To sing on the stage for the Bluebird Cafe is on the bucket list of every songwriter, and the chances of getting a slot for the Cafe's open mic is just like winning the lottery. The potential for a writer to get an opportunity to sing on a Monday night is 1 in 15, and all slots first come first serve. Making your chance to play even more magical.
The lottery of the Bluebird
In order to get one of these coveted slots, a songwriter must purchase a ticket from their website Monday at 11 o'clock. The ticket is for a chance to play Monday night at 6! What a way to wake up in the morning. No idea what the possibility could bring when you try to purchase one of these tickets. The website will only load fifteen tickets available to purchase, and just as fast as they are released, they are also sold out. Here is the website for you to try your chances this Monday and every Monday that follows. Bluebird Open Mic Link

You're a winner!
So, what's next if you find yourself a lucky winner of a Bluebird Cafe Open Mic ticket! Practice your song. You will more than likely only be able to play one original song for the night. Some people get the opportunity to sing two, but it is a drawing system for that too.
The song you pick needs to be for a listening crowd. Each member of the crowd will be listening to the craft of your lyrics. My suggestion would be to keep your bar song sing along at home and pull out your sweet-sounding melody that deserves a respectful ear.
When you arrive to the Cafe, you will be in a line waiting for them to open. Artist and One friend get to grab their seats first. Be sure to sit front of the stage if you want some great photos. Don't worry about line order because a randomizer will place each songwriter in its own order.
The cafe will wait until everyone is seated and go over directions for how the night will go. This is when they will announce the number order. Once all singers have gone through their song and story time, if there is still time, some other singers might get a second chance to sing.
